We are committed to the next level of patient care, linking innovative research with a new line of defense against cancer.
Four years ago, when I signed on as director of the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, I shared UT Southwestern’s vision to move our center into the next level of care. Since then, we have set about making that vision a reality, linking innovative research with a new line of defense against cancer.
From its founding in 1989, the center has focused its efforts toward reducing the impact of cancer, and I’m proud to say we have built a reputation based on our success. Today, the center is at the forefront of cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, and we continue to develop programs of excellence.
Recently, we created new educational and research programs that foster interactions across departments and build bridges between scientific discovery and patient care. We have increased our total clinical and research faculty to 201, representing 30 departments across the UT Southwestern campus. And during the past four years, we have doubled the number of clinical trials, and cancer drugs developed at UT Southwestern are now being tested in patients.
We understand that a cancer diagnosis is challenging for patients and their families. So we strive on a daily basis to simplify those choices, meet your concerns, and answer your questions. On behalf of our physicians, scientists, and staff, welcome to our cancer treatment center. And thank you for your support as we provide Dallas and North Texas with the cancer care of the future.
