Traveling to Dallas

Many people from outside the DFW Metroplex travel to UT Southwestern for their medical care. Because of our integrated, team-based approach to caring for people fighting cancer, many come to Simmons Cancer Center from other states in the region.

Our Center is about 20 minutes away from a major international airport, D/FW Airport, and about five minutes away from Dallas Love Field. For private aviation travelers, Love Field hosts several full-service FBOs. Amtrak travelers can take a taxi from Union Station in downtown Dallas to Simmons Cancer Center, or simply take the TRE (Trinity Rail Express) from Union Station to Medical Center Station, where campus shuttles are available throughout the day.

Near UT Southwestern

For patients and their families who travel to Dallas and need hotel accommodations, a Guest and Patient Services ambassador will help make arrangements at one of several nearby hotels. On-Campus Lodging: Guest House

This provides a friendly and supportive atmosphere for patients, their adult family members and visitors (16 years and older) who have a special need to be near University Hospital services for an extended period of time. Located in the south wing of UT Southwestern University Hospital on the second level by the chapel, the 19-room facility provides single, double and suite occupancy. The suite and double rooms include private baths. The single rooms have dormitory-style bathrooms (two rooms share an adjoining bath, but each has a private lavatory and toilet).

Each room features a telephone, television, clock radio and full housekeeping service. The Guest House also offers a microwave oven, toaster, ice machine and washer and dryer. Complimentary coffee, soft drinks and a vending area are located in the lobby. Games, puzzles and magazines are available in the living room. Check-out time is noon.

Ronald McDonald House of Dallas

The Ronald McDonald House is available for families of children undergoing treatment at UT Southwestern Medical Center. The house is located at 4707 Bengal Street (Dallas, TX 75235) in the Southwestern Medical District down the street from Children's Medical Center. The Ronald McDonald House serves 60 families nightly. Donations of $10 per night are requested.
