UT Southwestern operates one of the nation's leading programs for hematologic cancers (leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and myelodysplasia) and for advanced treatment with bone marrow transplantation. Our adult transplantation program ranks number one in the nation for one-year patient survival rates for patients receiving the highest complexity unrelated transplants.
Coordinated Care for Your Lung Cancer Patient
Our internationally recognized lung cancer team, led by Dr. Joan Schiller and Dr. Hak Choy, is comprised of expert medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and thoracic surgeons, as well as basic and translational scientists.
Coordinated Care for Your GI Cancer Patient
Our nationally recognized GI cancer team, led by Dr. Roderich Schwarz, brings together the multidisciplinary expertise of surgical, medical and radiation oncologists, radiologists, and gastroenterologists, as well as basic and translational scientists, to ensure advanced medical treatment for patients with all stages of GI cancers, including cancers of the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine (including rectum and anus), liver, bile ducts, gallbladder and pancreas.
Specialized Care in Radiation Oncology
As an integral part of Simmons Cancer Center, the mission of the Department of Radiation Oncology is to treat individual patients with highly customized therapies, based on the specific characteristics of their disease. Noted for ground-breaking research by our internationally recognized team, we deliver state-of-the-art care to patients with all types and stages of cancer. Our program is the only academic program and the only American College of Radiology-accredited radiation oncology program in North Texas, and is one of the largest practices in the Southwest.

As much as 5 to 10 percent of all cancers may be related to an inherited risk, and approximately 30 percent of cancer cases occur in families with close relatives who experience related cancers. Today families have an ally in the science of cancer risk assessment and counseling. Experts in the field of cancer genetics can help you identify your risk of developing cancer and understand the options available to help manage your health.
