About our Program

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. More than one million skin cancers are diagnosed annually. The Melanoma Program at Simmons Cancer Center offers some of the most advanced medical and surgical therapies for skin cancer. Our physicians are leaders in the use of surgery, immunotherapy, and radiation for the treatment of malignant melanoma. Our fellowship-trained dermatologists, surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and pathologists work together to provide patients comprehensive care.

Conditions We Treat

In recent years Americans have become much more aware of the risk factors for developing skin cancer. Simmons Cancer Center offers skin cancer patients the most advanced treatments and therapies available for all types of skin cancer, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma. We treat each patient according to their unique needs.

Treatment Options

We take a team approach to fighting melanoma and complex skin cancers, utilizing specialists from a variety of surgical and medical specialties. The physicians meet regularly to review the results of patients’ diagnostic tests and precisely determine the best treatment. Our collaborative approach means patients receive the full benefit of some of the best minds – from a range of specialties – weighing in on their tailored care.

Simmons Cancer Center's clinical trials program gives patients access to treatments often unavailable at other health care facilities and years before they are offered to the public.

To learn more about the various types of skin cancer and their treatment, spend some time in our Cancer Information library. If you have questions, be sure to talk with your physician or another member of your clinical care team.
