Established in 1989 through a generous gift from Dallas philanthropist Harold C. Simmons, the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center offers 13 major clinical care programs, each providing a wide range of integrated, patient-focused services. For patients this means that the physicians and health care professionals responsible for various aspects of their care convene weekly, communicate regularly, and focus their considerable knowledge and experience on meeting the needs of each individual patient.

Simmons Cancer Center also receives major funding from the most prestigious cancer research institutions in the nation, including the National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society, the National Institutes of Health, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
